The objectives of the National Pension Plan are to:

• replace income for members who retire
• provide income to survivors of members who die after or prior to retirement and
• provide income to members who become disabled and are no longer able to earn income.

The prime role and responsibility of the division is to fulfill the above objectives. In order to do this the division undertakes several tasks to perform its responsibilities under prevailing regulations in:

• determining the eligibility of applicants for benefits
• calculations the amounts of those benefits
• establishing efficient and secure procedures for making the payments of benefits to members entitled to them
• maintaining current database of benefit recipients

Besides, it is also the responsibility of the division to disseminate and answer any queries about the National Pension Plan.
